Motoring enthusiasts and car buyers filled the halls of Singapore's biggest car show, The Car Expo, which showcased a line-up of innovative rides and new releases. Fantastic deals were also on offer while visitors went up close and personal with the showcased vehicles.
Mirroring market trends, there was a wide range of electric vehicles (EV) on display from both pure-play EV brands and established players such as the Xpeng G6 and the Polestar 2. Notably, five of The Car Expo’s new authorised distributors — Dongfeng, Omoda, smart, XPENG, and ZEEKR — are EV brands.
Hybrid vehicles such as the Kia Carnival Hybrid, Mercedes-Benz GLB 180 Progressive, and Lexus LBX and internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles such as the Honda HRV, the Skoda Kamiq, and the Suzuki Swift were available for attendees to view and experience.
In total, 43 brands participated in the event, comprising authorised distributors, pre-owned car dealers, accessory brands, and service providers.
Leveraging multi-platform reach to boost sales
A comprehensive campaign across The Car Expo organiser SPH Media's print, digital, radio, and out-of-home platforms created awareness of the show's range of vehicles, accessories, and deals. This ensured healthy footfall, which posted a 29% increase compared to the previous edition in April, across the 2-day event on 5 and 6 October.
Car distributors pushed out a slew of promotions such as generous discounts, extended warranties, and freebies such as servicing, parts, and accessories to attract visitors to their booths.
To sweeten the deal, visitors who purchased any brand new or pre-owned car at THE CAR EXPO received up to $1,000 worth of cash vouchers from Official Fuel & Lubricant Partner SPC. $10 SPC cash vouchers were also given out to the first 50 shoppers daily who spent a minimum of $80 on car accessories in a single receipt.
The Car Expo's official Facebook page also amplified these promotions and deals live throughout the event days, creating even more buzz for the exhibitors.
Copies of The Car Expo supplement printed in The Straits Times, The Business Times, and Lianhe Zaobao that included useful information to aid buyers in their car purchase decision-making process were also distributed.
Official radio stations Kiss92 and ONE FM 91.3 also joined in the fun, conducting giveaways as they hosted entertaining shows live at the event. The first 1,000 visitors also received a limited edition The Car Expo auto umbrella.
Ms Amanda Tan, Head of Marketing, Dongfeng Singapore said, “We are proud to make our debut at The Car Expo, showcasing our latest advancements in sustainable mobility with the Dongfeng Box. This event has allowed us to connect with industry leaders and receive valuable insights. The overwhelming enthusiasm that we felt has strengthened our commitment to being at the forefront of the electric vehicle market, and we look forward to coming back next year.”
