Known for its cheerful EV hatchback, the Dongfeng Box, Dongfeng Singapore is welcoming

a new sedan and luxury off-roader to its lineup.

You might know Dongfeng for the Box, which has been the only model sold in Singapore for a hot moment since the brand's entrance here. Well-loved by many, the Dongfeng Box is a literal box of surprises as it is much better specced than its low price point suggests.

The sight of many Boxes on our roads is a clear sign of the brand's appeal, with its great value and vibrant design. But what some might not know is the scale of Dongfeng's operations.

The affable Dongfeng Box (first from left) has made a name for itself as a bang-for-buck entry-level EV - but Dongfeng has much more up its sleeves than just compact electric hatchbacks

Given the soft introduction of the brand in Singapore with a single product, it is easy to assume it to be a small outfit. However, Dongfeng Motor Corporation is a state-owned manufacturer with a storied history dating back to 1969, and currently has a slew of sub-brands.

The Box, also known as the Nammi 01 in China, is just one of its many products. While Dongfeng cars are sold in its domestic market under a variety of sub-brands, its products that are sold in Singapore are all branded as Dongfeng - which is why the Box isn't called the Nammi here.

The MHERO 1 is a luxury SUV that blends genuine offroading prowess with otherworldly styling, immense power, and a sumptuous cabin

Dongfeng Singapore has just introduced the Vigo, an electric crossover with a unique split tailgate, putting out a reasonable power of 120kW (161bhp), during The Car Expo. And now, the brand is bringing in something that packs a ridiculous amount of power: The Dongfeng MHERO 1.

The MHERO 1's looks aren't just for show - Dongfeng actually knows more than a thing or two about building a hardy vehicle, since it manufactures military vehicles in China

Measuring almost five metres long, over two metres wide and almost two metres tall, the MHERO 1 is a behemoth that doesn't simply look the part.

As a military vehicle manufacturer, Dongfeng has the expertise to build hardy vehicles that can conquer all kinds of terrains, and the MHERO 1 is the result of that expertise, combined with over-the-top luxury equipment. The result is an imposing luxury SUV that is also extremely powerful and capable.

Apart from being drenched in soft-touch materials, the MHERO 1's front quarters also get a 12.3-inch display for the front passenger

Inside the MHERO 1, you'll see that the cabin has been slathered with premium materials and built to a high level of standard. Most of the surfaces are wrapped in Nappa leather, while the dashboard has been equipped with a 12.3-inch driver display, a 15.6-inch infotainment display and a 12.3-inch display for the passenger.

The MHERO 1's eye-catching door handles are designed to look like pistols

The MHERO 1's inspiration is clear - the door handles are designed to look like pistols, and the soundtrack of the slide and chambering of a bullet is played when you close the doors.

If a military-inspired off-road luxury SUV with tremendous power isn't exactly your cup of tea, however, Dongfeng has also brought in a premium sedan: The Dongfeng 007.

Slated for Singapore eventually, the Dongfeng 007 should eventually be available in three distinct variants

Featuring a sleek silhouette and suave styling, the Dongfeng 007 will be available in Cat A and B variants, with the top-of-the-line dual motor all-wheel drive variant putting out 400kW (536bhp) and 640Nm of torque, allowing it to complete the century sprint in just 3.5 seconds.

With 536bhp and 640Nm of torque sent to all four wheels, the range-topping all-wheel drive variant of the 007 can demolish the century sprint in 3.5 seconds

The rear-wheel drive Cat B variant will put out 200kW (268bhp) and 320Nm of torque, with a 0-100km/h time of 6 seconds. Meanwhile, the Cat A variant will top out the category with 99kW (133bhp).

As expected from the brand, the 007 is well-equipped, featuring electric and ventilated front seats, a slew of driver assist systems and a premium interior with vegan leather. (This applies for both the Cat B variants - the Cat A 007's specifications are still being finalised).

Both Cat B variants of the 007 should be equipped with ventilated front seats when they arrive

While prices haven't been confirmed, Volt Auto, Dongfeng's distributor in Singapore has provided an indicative price for the Vigo and 007 models.

The Vigo is expected to be priced at $160,000, while the Cat A, mid-range Cat B (200kW) and range-topping Cat B (400kW) variants of the 007 are expected to be priced at $170,000, $190,000 and $250,000 respectively.

The Dongfeng Vigo - a cutesy crossover with a rare split tailgate - has also made its way to VivoCity for visitors to get up close with

While the cars haven't been officially launched in Singapore just yet (the Vigo and 007 are expected to launch only in Q4 this year), all three models are currently being showcased at the brand's roadshow at VivoCity's level 1 atrium till this Sunday, 18 May 2025.
