Dongfeng Motors partners with Volt Auto to bring the Box, a new electric hatchback, to Singapore.
Dongfeng Motors, a Chinese state-owned automaker is the latest brand to arrive on our shores, in a partnership with exclusive distributor, Volt Auto. The first car to land here is the Dongfeng Box (called the Nammi 01 in China), an electric hatchback that uses the world's first “Mach Power 10-in-1 Technology” in the automotive industry.
It's not explained exactly what “Mach Power 10-in-1 Technology” means other than that it seamlessly integrates performance, connectivity, and safety into one power system. The Box has reportedly also had over 10,000 export units outside of China within two months of its launch.
The Box is powered by a single electric motor on the front wheels producing 70kW (94hp) and 160Nm of torque. A 42.3kWh battery gives it a claimed maximum range of 430km, with capability for both AC and DC charging.
The Box features a modern look with frameless doors, “Crystal LED” headlights, and “Ruby Double C” taillights to enhance its outward appearance. There is also 32-colour ambient lighting for the interior with quilted, soft-touch trim on the dash and doors. The Box also has premium features like ventilated seats, wireless charging, and an electric driver's seat with memory and easy-entry function.
The Box is available in three colours, purple, blue, and white, with the purple and blue options available with a white contrast roof. Promotional launch pricing for the Box starts at S$148,888 including COE.
